Tulsa is gearing up for the biggest Route 66 celebration in the country with a Guinness World Records attempt for the largest classic car parade ever.
Tulsa’s Route 66 Capital Cruise: World-Record Classic Car Centennial Parade arrives May 28–30, transforming historic 11th Street into a citywide celebration packed with classic cars, live entertainment, food, music and family-friendly fun. More than just a parade, Capital Cruise is designed as an immersive experience with something to do for everyone.
On Saturday, May 30, thousands of vintage vehicles cruise Tulsa’s stretch of Historic Route 66 in an official world-record attempt. Nearly 4,000 classic cars have already registered, promising an unforgettable showcase of stunning vintage vehicles cruising from 11th & Yale to 11th & Denver.
Along the route, visitors will find 16 Cruise Party Zones, each offering its own unique atmosphere with entertainment, food trucks, restrooms, water stations, first aid and sponsor activations.
The celebration culminates at the Finish Line Festival, sponsored by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, where spectators can continue the festivities long after the final cars pass by.
Festivities begin Thursday, May 28, at Tulsa Expo Square with the Capital Cruise Expo from 2–8 p.m. The Expo features driver registration, vendors, displays and special activations. On Friday night, the excitement continues with the Capital Cruise Tailgate presented by Bank of Oklahoma, featuring live music curated by Mayfest, the Tulsa Kids Market, classic car displays and family entertainment.
Saturday’s parade officially begins at 8 a.m., with cars departing Expo Square, traveling north on Yale Avenue before heading west along historic 11th Street — the heart of Tulsa’s Route 66 corridor.
Organizers encourage spectators to arrive early and choose a viewing location before road closures begin. For safety and to maintain the integrity of the world-record attempt, 11th Street will begin closing at 5 a.m. and will be fully closed by 6 a.m. Once the Cruise begins, spectators will not be able to cross the street, though they may travel east and west along the route throughout the day.
To help attendees navigate the festivities, the official “Cruise Guide” smartphone app launches the week of May 25, featuring maps of the route, Cruise Party Zones, and additional Route 66 events happening across Tulsa during the celebration.
Whether you’re a lifelong car enthusiast or simply looking for an unforgettable weekend experience, Tulsa’s Route 66 Capital Cruise promises a once-in-a-generation celebration of community, history and the open road.
